The City of Maple Heights Joins the Nation in Observing Child Abuse Prevention Month

This April, The City of Maple Heights invites the community to join in recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and take action to protect children and support families. Across the nation, communities are coming together to plant blue pinwheel gardens, a symbol of hope, joy, and the importance of happy, healthy childhoods.
The pinwheel represents our collective commitment to ensuring every child grows up in a safe and nurturing environment. This year, The City of Maple Heights has planted a pinwheel garden on Granger Road Bridge and will have a Proclamation declaring April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Child abuse affects millions of children every year, yet we all have the power to make a difference. By recognizing the signs, speaking up, and sharing resources, we can work together to prevent harm and create safer communities.
What You Can Do:
- Learn the Signs: Unexplained injuries, behavioral changes, and extreme withdrawal are some that could indicate abuse.
- Speak Up: If you suspect abuse, call the 24-hour Child Abuse Hotline at 216-696-KIDS (5437).
- Support Prevention: Engage in conversations with children and spread awareness in your community.
